Fresh Flowers

I love fresh flowers in my kitchen. It brightens the room and always makes me smile when I see them. Aldi has very affordable flowers, and they're always fresh and last several weeks if taken care of properly. (I change the water daily.)

Aren't they gorgeous? These particular fresh flowers from Aldi only cost $3.99. Such a small price to pay for a few weeks of smiles!

Little Salad Bar All Natural Salsa

I came across this salsa in the refrigerated foods section last weekend. It was fabulous! And it goes really well with the Clancy Multi Grain Tortilla chips. It's great for a snack or as a side dish on Taco night.

Super Sunday Chicken Wings

We love chicken wings in our house. I bought 2 packages of fresh wings yesterday at Aldi. They were $2.19 per pound, which was the same price that BJ's was selling them for, Wegman's also had the same price. Must be the biggest weekend ever for Chicken Wings! (Um, yeah...) Anyway, I went with the Aldi wings.

We like our wings dry and crispy. A friend of ours gave us her recipe, and it's super easy. Set the oven to 300 degrees. Place the wings on the top of a broiler pan. I sprinkle a lemon-herb spice on top of the wings, and place them in the oven for 3-4 hours. Sometimes I'll sneak the temperature up to 375-400 towards then last half hour or so just to make them even crispier. They're fantastic. Perfect fare for a little Sunday football game!

Caesar Salad Kit

I bought this during my last outing to Aldi. I love a good Caesar Salad. This kit was fabulous. I split it into 2 servings and there was more than enough. It was comparable to the Wegman's Caesar Salad kit. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to do a taste test and I would bet they taste the same. The Aldi salad kit was $1.99. The Wegmans version was $2.99.

Cinnamon Spice Coffee

I discovered this Cinnamon Spice Coffee at Aldi yesterday. I'm a sucker for all things cinnamon. Especially coffee. As I write this blog post, I'm enjoying a fresh, hot brewed cup of coffee right now. It's wonderful! And as coffee prices just seem to get going up, this 12 oz. bag of Beaumont Coffee was only $4.99.

Kettlecorn

This was a nice discovery about a month ago. I bought it on a whim and we LOVED it! I tried to buy more the next week, and it was nowhere to be found. That's one downfall of Aldi, sometimes foods come and go. It's nice to try new things, but when you absolutely fall in love with a product and then it's gone, that's kind of annoying. However, in this case, the Kettlecorn returned! I bought 2 bags this time. Although I'm hoping it's here to stay. This bag of heaven only cost $1.99 per bag.

Cranberry Orange Oatmeal

Winter is a nice month to enjoy a warm bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. (Or dessert, if you're strange like me!) I found this box of oatmeal at Aldi this weekend in the clearance area. It was $1.49 per box, so I picked one up. It's delicious! I hope they continue to carry this variety of oatmeal, I'd definitely buy it again.

Baked Mac 'n Cheese

I tried a little something different with my traditional Baked Mac 'n Cheese dinner tonight. I crushed up a small bag of Chef's Cupboard French Fried Onions and sprinkled them on the top of the Baked Mac 'n Cheese. What a fabulous taste! That large container of Fried Onions is only $1.99 at Aldi, much cheaper than the name brand onions at regular grocery stores. So try a new twist on an old favorite!

Happy New Year!

It's a new year, time for new beginnings and new resolutions. One of my resolutions this year is going to be to save money. Isn't that always a resolution?! Well, that and eat healthier. And maybe run a half-marathon... (seriously, the thought is on the table...) I'll definitely be doing more 5k's this year. We'll see how things are going before I totally decide on something bigger.

In the meantime, I'll be saving money and eating better, thanks to Aldi. Here's a great snack to start off the New Year. Clancy's Baked Potato Crisps. They're healthier than regular chips, and they're cheaper than the name brand Lays Baked Chips. But guess what? They taste exactly like them! And they're only $1.79 a bag. Lays Baked Chips at Wegmans cost $3.69 - they are both 9 oz. bags, so that's a BIG savings! You could buy two bags from Aldi for the less money than 1 bag from Wegmans.
