Banana Nut Granola Cereal

This Banana Nut Granola cereal is fantastic. I just can't say enough good things about this cereal. Really. It makes a perfect breakfast to start the day. Or sometimes, I eat it for dessert. The price is pretty good too, at $2.19 per box.

Menu Plan Monday

I'm going to try something new this week. I'm going to start posting my menu plans for the week. There will be some items that were not purchased at Aldi, but we get 85-90% of our groceries there, so chances are, most of the menu items will be available at Aldi. If they are not, I will try to make a note of that. Stop by Organizing Junkie for more menu plan ideas. I will only be posting Monday through Friday dinners. We never know what we're doing on the weekends until they get here and one night usually includes pizza!

Monday:
Turkey Burgers (Jennie-O Burgers) with mushrooms
Onion Rolls
Baked Beans
Salad

Tuesday:
Chicken
Rice
Carrots

Wednesday:
Turkey Chili (See recipe here)
Crescent Rolls (On sale for 25 cents this week!)

Thursday:
Cheese Tortellini with Chicken with Sauce
Garlic Spinach (Will post recipe this week.)

Friday:
BBQ Chicken on Grill
Broccoli Salad (See recipe here)
Beans

Jennie-O Turkey Burgers

Sometimes Aldi has name brand items at a great price. This was the case with these Jennie-O Turkey Burgers this week. There are 12 burgers in the package, and it was $5.99. That's 50 cents per burger! (Wegmans price is $6.29 for the exact same thing.) We'll be eating our burgers with the amazingly awesome onion rolls I bought this week. They were $1.99 for the package of 8 giant rolls. That's 25 cents per roll. So that's 75 cents per burger with a fabulous onion roll. Great deal! We're also having baked beans and a nice side salad to round out the meal.

Bagels and Neufchatel Cheese

These bagels and cream cheese are a nice combination. The Cinnamon Raisin bagels are big and make a perfect breakfast or snack. Toasted and topped with Fit & Active Neufchatel Cheese makes it even better. The Neufchatel Cheese tastes exactly like cream cheese. Honestly, I cannot tell a difference. It says it's 1/3 less fat than regular cream cheese. I will take their word for it! It tastes great. The price for these 6 (yes, there are 6 to a package, not 5. I kind of ate one before I took the photo!) is $1.49. (That's only 25 cents each!) And the price for the cream cheese is $1.19.

My Favorite Condiment

I love yellow mustard. It is my all-time favorite condiment. I could live without ketchup, I really could. But not mustard. I love it on my hot dogs and hamburgers. On my sandwiches, I dip my french fries in it. I love mustard. And I especially love it when it's only 69 cents! Aldi sells their mustard in a 14 oz. bottle. Wegmans has an 8 oz bottle for 99 cents. French's mustard is $1.69 for a 14 oz bottle. More mustard for less money at Aldi! Aldi wins again.

Guacamole and Chips

I picked up this spectacular Guacamole yesterday at Aldi. There were 2 pouches in the package. The flavor was outstanding with a nice hint of garlic. It went wonderfully with Clancy's Multi-Grain Tortilla chips. It was a nice healthy appetizer for our dinner tonight.

The price for the Guacamole? It was $2.99 for the package. We only used one of the pouches so far. Wegmans has a very similar Guacamole (in size and packaging), and the price for theirs is $4.99. The bag of Multi-Grain Tortilla chips was $1.69. Wegmans cost for their tortilla chips is $2.50.

Loven Fresh Raisin Cinnamon Bread

Oh, yeah. This Raisin Cinnamon Swirl bread is delicious! Eat it plain or toast it and spread some butter on it. Either way, you will not be disappointed. This loaf doesn't last long in our house, it's a nice treat or a yummy breakfast. And it's only $1.99 for the loaf. So go get some!

Chunk Light Tuna

Aldi has the cheapest tuna I've found in our area. It's 69 cents/can. Wegman's tuna is 99 cents/can. And the Aldi tuna is really good! We prefer the Chunk Light Tuna in water. It's great in sandwiches, tuna casserole or pasta salad.

Black Cherry Greek Yogurt

I had a nice surprise at Aldi today. They now have Black Cherry Greek Yogurt! This is my favorite flavor. I've only been able to get it at Wegmans. Until now! I love that Aldi is expanding their Greek Yogurt selection. I hope it continues!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Bars

I found a fun recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Bars and thought I'd try it out! I was able to get all of the ingredients at Aldi (except the wheat germ... ), so I thought I'd share the recipe here. I'm thinking of more ingredients to add next time. Like dried cranberries or peanuts. I think this might become a regular thing for us!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup margarine
1 cup oats
2 tbsp wheat germ
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Melt the butter, peanut butter and honey in a pot over medium heat, stirring constantly.  Remove from the burner when melted.
2. Pour in the cup of oats and the wheat germ. Stir until well mixed.
3. Wait for it to cool. Then stir in the chocolate chips. If you pour them in while the mix is still warm, the chips will melt. But that's ok too. They're yummy either way.
4. Pour into foil-lined 8 x 8 glass baking pan and put in the fridge.
5. Once cooled, place the bars onto cutting board and cut to the size you like.
6. Eat and enjoy!

Benton's Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

I'm going to continue with my chocolate theme this week. These were a nice surprise yesterday when I went to Aldi. I had never seen them before, and perhaps with the word "NEW" on the package, there's good reason I've not seen them. They are great! They're moist and yummy. They had several varieties. I believe oatmeal and molasses were the other 2 flavors. I prefer chocolate chip. They did not disappoint. They price for these yummy treats? 99 cents.

Choceur Peanut Crunch Bar

Sorry the Aldi Blog has been sparse this past week. We have just returned from a fabulous vacation.

But now we are back to reality.

Thankfully I found this Choceur Peanut Crunch Bar today at Aldi. This chocolate bar was AMAZING. And wonderful. And so. very. good. It made me forget just for a moment that I have to return to work tomorrow...

Elbow Macaroni

Aldi has a huge selection of pasta products. Their Elbow Macaroni is something I buy quite often. I love to make macaroni & cheese and am apparently famous for my pasta salad. You can buy this 32 oz. box of Elbow Macaroni at Aldi for $1.69. Wegmans only sells 16 oz or 48 oz sizes. Their 16 oz. size is 89 cents. (Multiplied by 2 would be $1.78.) If you ask me, pasta is pasta. Why spend more on staples such as pasta? Go for the cheap one! It's just as good.

Sweet & Salty Granola Bars

Aldi really has a great variety of snack bars. These Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars are wonderful. The whole family loves them. I particularly love the peanut butter coating on the bottom. These bars are $1.49 at Aldi. Wegmas sells a very similar item for $2.29. And Quaker also has a similar item for $2.39.
